4.0 handoff

What 4.0 is​

The suit is the wear on a three-subsystem autonomous engine. Constitution always on. Temperament scales ceremony. The hosts are Grok, OpenCode, Hermes, OpenClaw, and Cursor. The job is a suit that survives the context window. When the window closes, the next session wakes with the job. Plan → build → review → ship stay linear handoffs. Bite-sized work resumes from wear + git + Station. Repertoire is preferred for long-term judgment (vendored 0.2.9, dest = laws). Station is the wake ticket, not a substitute. Split: Station vs Repertoire 0.1.

Score disk, not mind. Chat may lose early turns. Disk must not lose the ticket. After compact the host re-feeds a session summary, the files on disk, and a “conversation was summarized” banner together — naming the ticket afterward is not separable memory proof. Station present means mill was on that machine. Station absent (host did not invent .xray/state/STATION.md) is still PASS for mill-control. Line (feat/v4-temperament)​

Do not pin a patch number here. Tag v4.0.0 (f80b42c) is history. The suit era is 4.1. The next publish is a patch. Never release:major (that becomes 5.0.0).

  • Memory: shipped memory_routing is on. Station heat matches seed signals on every host. Compact ingest is shared. Working state: .xray/state/repertoire-working.json. Explicit opt-out: enabled: false + provider: "repertoire".
  • Hot-swap: .xray/state/STATION.md is the card. Compaction (PreCompact), host change, and OpenClaw first-tool write it. The card survives the cut. AGENTS.md: Read the card (Grok does not inject). Live plan line. Lessons stay at 20 hot / 20 retained / 24 learned proposed. Speech that names nothing mints one. Recall carries one plate. Stranger without Repertoire still has git + intent + plan.
  • Wear review P0: quoted Grok hook commands; postinstall dogfood actually runs; OpenClaw heat skips only on a concrete session; grok_postprocessor_light forwarded; Repertoire config.toml on the project.
  • Stranger-install wear: plugin in tarball, dist-then-src, postinstall PreToolUse, ephemeral markers not clobbering machine, OpenClaw opencode-cli backend when opencode is on PATH.
